Standoff with armed man ended without injuries

A two-hour standoff ended without injuries with the armed man surrendering to authorities, according to Laredo police.
At about 10 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 1400 block of Eisenhower Drive for a report of a person with a gun. Officers learned that a 31-year-old male had left the residence with a gun.
Police said he was having an emotional crisis, saying he wanted to take his own life.
Officers located the male by Johnson Drive and Bismark Street. He had a gun pointed to himself. He then left for another location in the 3600 block of Bismark, where he was by a cinder block fence.

Tres Rios River Cleanup
Avondale Parks & Recreation invites the public to help heal the river by taking part in a river cleanup event Saturday, April 17. Come help preserve the heritage, wildlife and natural beauty of the Gila, Salt and Agua Fria rivers. The event is hosted at the Tres Rios riparian area in Avondale.
