But what lies ahead in the next semester?
With vaccines on the horizon and lessons learned from the fall, some superintendents are optimistic the upcoming semester can be an improvement, but for at least the first couple of months, things might look very similar to the fall.
School districts will resume classes in person, in a hybrid model or all remote in January as they work toward the end of a challenging year affected by COVID-19.
“We have come a long way through this pandemic since March,” said Jeanice Swift, Ann Arbor Public Schools superintendent. “We are absolutely excited about the prospect about vaccines, and yet we know that we are still at a high point of this surge that we’re currently in.”
