This time in under a week, John Sargent could be a member of an exclusive club of trainers to have won an ATC Derby and ATC Oaks with Favreau timed to peak in Saturday’s Blue Riband.
Sargent’s Tavistock three-year-old spent Easter Sunday morning wading through the salt water at Brighton-Le-Sands, the day after his brave fourth in the Tulloch Stakes at Rosehill Gardens.
‘’He went to the beach and had an easy day,’’ Sargent said. “He can have an easy week because all the work has been done now for Saturday.’’
Sargent, the last trainer to beat Winx thanks to Gust of Winds’ 2015 ATC Oaks triumph, will have plenty of empty boxes at his High Street headquarters come Saturday afternoon with several of his autumn arsenal in action.

Randwick-based horseman stated barrier 10 could prove beneficial to his filly, if the outside lanes end up being the place to be.
Sargent likened the classy juvenile to talented stablemate and half-sister
Emeralds, declaring that the pair seem to relish rain-affected surfaces.
“She seems to handle it that’s for sure and her half-sister
Emeralds loves the wet, so hopefully we get her to Saturday in good order because the track won’t play a major part,” Sargent told

An initial public offer and sharemarket listing is on the radar screen for New Zealand forwarder Mondiale, which is merging with Australia s Visa Global Logistics. The combined entity - part owned by private equity company Direct Capital - will become a top-30 freight forwarder in the same league as NZX-listed Mainfreight, which is rated by TransportTopics as the 33rd biggest by volume.
Mondiale said the merged group would handle 500,000 20-foot equivalent (TEU) containers in Australia and New Zealand, making it the biggest privately owned freight forwarder in Oceania.
