Man extradited from Queensland over axe assault in the Hunter July 22, 2021 A man has been extradited from Queensland over an axe assault in the Hunter region. Police say just before 8pm last Tuesday, July 13, a 28-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were at a home on Alliance Street East Maitland, when five people arrived and an argument broke out.  It will be alleged in court the 28-year-old woman was assaulted and the 35-year-old man was struck several times with a tomahawk. The injured man contacted emergency services while the group left the scene.’ The 35-year-old was later taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment to injuries to his back; he has since been released.

A third man will face court today over an alleged assault where a man was struck several times with a tomahawk in the Hunter region last week. Detectives from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District, assisted by officers from the Queensland Police Service, travelled to the Sunshine Coast and arrested a 23-year-old man about 3pm on Tuesday. On July 13, a 28-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were assaulted inside their home on Alliance Street, East Maitland. The man was struck several times with a tomahawk. He contacted emergency services, while the group left the scene. The 35-year-old was taken to John Hunter Hospital for back injuries; he’s since been released.

Date Time Critical incident declared after man seriously injured at Kempsey A critical incident has been declared after a man suffered serious injuries following a confrontation with police at Kempsey yesterday. About 9.50pm (Wednesday 21 July 2021), officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District attended a license premises on York Lane, Kempsey, following reports a man wanted on outstanding warrants was present at the venue. When police entered the venue, the 29-year-old man fled the scene and a foot pursuit commenced. A short time later, officers terminated the pursuit after losing sight of the man. With the assistance of the Dog Unit, police located the man in a car park on Savages Lane, Kempsey.
