Lenhart joins Auditor’s Office COLUMBUS– Shelby County Sheriff John Lenhart’s retirement isn’t going to last long. Auditor of State Keith Faber announced Monday Lenhart will join the Auditor’s Office as the liaison to law enforcement offices throughout Ohio. “Ohio’s local law enforcement officers serve on the frontline in the battle against fraud and corruption in our public entities,” Faber said. “I’ve worked with John extensively over the years and I am confident that the experience and relationships he brings will be an enormous asset in allowing us to better assist our partners in identifying and bringing justice to those that violate the public’s trust cheating Ohio’s taxpayers.”

STAR House to receive grant funds COLUMBUS The Shelby County Sheriff’s Treatment and Recovery (STAR) House has been awarded $110,000 in grant funds from the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s (ODPS) Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS). The state of Ohio recently announced awards of more than $400,000 in federal grant funding to assist state and local governments in developing and implementing substance abuse treatment programs in correctional and detention facilities and to create and maintain community-based aftercare services for offenders. “It is an operational grant and we are very pleased about (receiving the grant),” Shelby County Sheriff John Lenhart told the Sidney Daily News Thursday morning. ”The funds should be coming any time now.”

Shelby County sheriff appointed as law enforcement liaison COLUMBUS Shelby County Sheriff John Lenhart has been appointed to act as a law enforcement liaison for the Ohio Auditor’s office, a role in which Lenhart will work closely with local law enforcement agencies to ensure they receive assistance from the Auditor’s office to investigate fraud and public corruption. Lenhart, who has 54 years of law enforcement experience, will assume the role when his eighth term as sheriff ends. “I’ve spent much of my career helping to ensure that Ohioans are safe from anyone that might do them harm,” Lenhart said in a statement. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with the Auditor’s team and share my experience with law enforcement agencies across the state.”

But as Jeremy Pelzer reports, there’s still no answer yet about whether lawmakers will agree on a partial repeal of the tainted House Bill 6.
