John Stone, 90, had been admitted to the Oxford hospital on July 7 with chest pains, Oxford Coroner’s Court heard on Tuesday. During his admission he suffered a fall on the wards and injured his head. He died at the John Radcliffe on July 8. Opening Mr Stone’s inquest, senior coroner Darren Salter said the cause of death had been given as subdural haematoma – a bleed on the brain – due to a head injury. It had been contributed to by an underlying condition of acute coronary syndrome.
