So, here we are, on the verge of another major and relatively “normal,” whatever that means these days auction season, as Christie’s and Sotheby’s get ready to sell hundreds of millions of dollars worth of Impressionist, Modern, and contemporary art in the space of a single week. (Phillips’s sale has been pushed to June.)
And despite all that has changed in the past year, some things have remained the same or even shifted back to how they were before the pandemic. After a dismal 2020 for the auction houses, they’re now back on steadier ground, with the low end of the cumulative estimates this season reaching over $1 billion. (Does that ring a bell?)
Trump Can Live at Mar-a-Lago as Employee, Town Attorney Concludes
Palm Beach Town Attorney John Randolph issued the final verdict in a long-running dispute over whether former President Donald Trump can live at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
Randolph said an agreement between the town and Mar-a-Lago signed in 1993 allows the former commander in chief to live at the club as a “bona fide employee,” Town Manager Kirk Blouin told Palm Beach Daily News.
The agreement converted Mar-a-Lago from a private residence into a private club. Some neighbors had said the private club designation prohibits Trump from residing on the premises. But Randolph pointed to the town’s zoning code, which says that the town zoning code allows private clubs to provide living quarters to a “bona fide” employee.

The final word on whether former President Donald Trump can live at his Mar-a-Lago estate is out, and some of his neighbors in Palm Beach won’t like it.
Some of Trump’s neighbors alleged that the former president is in violation of a 1993 agreement with the town that limits how many days members of the Mar-a-Lago Club can stay in the estate’s guest suites. But he is free to live there as a bona fide employee, according to Palm Beach town attorney John “Skip” Randolph.
