However much celebrities (as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have essentially become) would like to curate where and how they appear in the press, their obsession with keeping a high profile results in heightened public interest in them – and thus an inevitable appearance in publications that don’t meet their exacting criteria. Giving an interview to Oprah Winfrey in order to “draw a line” was naive. All it did was expose the couple to comment as they publicised their criticisms of the Royal family.
