IN my piece today, I welcome some promising developments for Bradford, let you know what I am fighting to change and my hopes for the future. Firstly, Bradford Bulls’ return to Odsal stadium on Sunday for a home fixture against York City Knights is great news for Bradford, the club, the fans and the sport. Odsal is totemic for rugby league in Bradford and getting the Bulls back playing in Bradford is hugely significant. I am pleased to have worked with the club, helping them to achieve their ambition to return to Bradford. I’m now looking forward to continuing that work to help secure their return in the long-term.

Limerick farmers and road users reminded of silage season dangers

THE Chairman of Limerick ICMSA has asked the users of rural roads to exercise patience and awareness as this year’s silage season begins.
John Bateman said that rural roads will see a massive increase in heavy traffic over the next number of weeks as farmers cut, bale and bring in silage.
He noted that the large numbers of people still using rural roads for walking and cycling exercise in the absence of gyms or sports club training might be taken unaware by the large increase in tractor and trailer volumes.

The Canberra Raiders must immediately sack any official caught leaking information about the struggling team, rugby league great Peter Sterling says.
Former Raider John Bateman claimed to The Sydney Morning Herald that Canberra players suspected unnamed officials of undermining them in the media. Josh Hodgson, who just stood down as co-captain, was one aggrieved player.
With Canberra on a five-match losing streak, tensions are high in the camp. Sterling said that anyone caught inflaming those problems in the media had to go; and that Stuart was no doubt across the problem if leaking was in fact happening.
