When Whitney Sherman goes to the post office, 99 percent of the time, she buys the same postage stamp a breast cancer research stamp first issued in 1998 that holds the title of longest-running postal issue in US history. The iconic stamp features a line drawing of Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting, awash in a flowing rainbow of colors with the words “FUND THE FIGHT. FIND A CURE.” encircling her right breast. To date, the stamp has raised more than $90 million for breast cancer research, but that’s not the only reason Sherman buys it. In fact, she created the illustration.

The Skywalker saga is complete, and now it s time for Star Wars to look back at the entire Skywalker family. Lucasfilm has announced
Skywalker: A Family at War, a biographical history of the family of Anakin, Luke, and Leia. Writer Kristin Baver will examine the triumphs and tribulations of the Skywalkers by studying the Skywalker saga movies as well as canon novels, comics, and other materials that shed light on the Skywalker story. The book will trace the Skywalker family lineage from Shmi Skywalker during the prequel trilogy era through Rey taking the name at the end of the sequel trilogy.

Portland Public Schools may soon announce how it will return students to classrooms. But there won’t be many. And it won’t happen until late January at the earliest.
The district and the union representing its teachers is close to a deal over working conditions for educators who will provide in-person instruction next year, nearly 10 months after Gov. Kate Brown ordered the state’s public schools to close their doors.
