Red flag warning issued across NW Oregon, potential for rapidly spreading fire Zach Urness, Salem Statesman Journal A red flag warning has been issued across the majority of northwest Oregon for Friday due to the potential for rapidly spreading fire amid hot, dry and windy conditions.  The warning is extremely rare for April, but with fuels bone-dry, humidity low and winds gusting from 25 to 50 mph in parts of the region, forecasters issued an alert that doesn t normally pop up until July or August.  The strongest winds are expected from late Friday morning into the evening.  Conditions are setting up the potential for rapidly spreading fires to get started, said John Bumgardner, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Portland. We do issue red flag warnings outside of the normal fire season occasionally, but this is very rare for April.
