A military veteran was killed by a 20-tonne waste digger reportedly driven by his son at a Wiltshire landfill site.
Steve Beacham died in the tragic accident on New Year’s Eve at Crapper and Sons rubbish dump in Brinkworth at around 2.20am.
Mr Beacham, aged in his sixties and from Chippenham, was hit by a loading shovel - a piece of digger-like machinery weighing up to 20 tonnes.

The vehicle, similar to the one shown in the picture above, weighed 20 tons and killed Steve at the scene despite the best efforts of emergency medics who attempted to save him after being called to the Wiltshire rubbish dump site on December 31
