The printout, which implied that Floyd passed on due to drug use, was discovered a few days before Derek Chauvin’s trial that was scheduled to start on Monday. Last May, Floyd’s murder stimulated worldwide protest after Chauvin, a former Minneapolis police officer, knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes. On Saturday, the flyer was posted to a Black History Month display, commemorating victims of police brutality.
