Breckenridge chief John Buhler hangs up his hat after 27 years with Vail Resorts

Photo from Breckenridge Ski Resort Longtime Vail Resorts employee John Buhler is retiring from his position as chief operating officer of Breckenridge Ski Resort. Buhler has served as the COO of Breckenridge for six years following his five-year role in the same position at Keystone Resort. With a dad on ski patrol, Buhler started skiing when he was just 2 years old. After getting involved with other sports during his teenage years in high school, Buhler revived his passion for skiing in 1980, when he kicked off his career in the ski industry as a part-time instructor in California. “To have the ability to have an entire career in a field that was your lifelong passion is pretty cool and pretty rare,” Buhler said, adding that the reason he got into the ski industry is the same reason he’s stuck with it for nearly 30 years. “It’s the passion for the sport that I love, the mountains. And more than that, it’s the passion of everyone that lives up here.”

New York Jets Flight Connections 4/5/21

New York Jets Flight Connections 4/5/21 Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets Photo by Benjamin Solomon/Getty Images Good morning, Gang Green Nation! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. Shout out to Mr. Wells for holding down the fort over the weekend as usual. After a week that saw a rekindling of debate among Jets fans regarding the future franchise quarterback, things have gone fairly quiet, which has been the norm on the Jets beat since Joe Douglas has taken over as the GM of the team. There’s been little news broken by those closest to the team overall; and while most have been covering the team for years, the quality of content has gone downhill as well. Perhaps this could be a signal of another change, or perhaps Douglas is just incredibly good at hiding his intentions from anyone. If it’s the latter, it’s one of the best I’ve seen from a GM for as long as I can remember. It also deserves quite a bit of praise, especially in a New Y

New York Jets Flight Connections 4/04/21

New York Jets Flight Connections 4/04/21 Good morning, Gang Green Nation! Happy Easter to those of you celebrating the holiday today. For the Jets we have entered a quiet time. The next four weeks it will be all about the NFL draft and possibly the trade of quarterback Sam Darnold. For now there isn’t much to report, as all has been quiet on the Darnold front. We’re left with the umpteenth mock drafts from the usual suspects, along with such riveting fare as the Jets options for backup quarterback. Speaking of backup quarterback, the Jets’ options there have slowly dwindled as the best of the bunch have been signed to other teams. This leads one to believe either the Jets must believe in James Morgan, or the Jets intend to keep Sam Darnold around rather than trade him. There are other options, of course, but none very appealing. Nate Sudfeld, Matt Barkley or A.J. McCarron anyone? RG III and Blaine Gabbert are also available. Blake Bortles is probably the best option of a les

Pandemic leads to new digital performances at Wild Rose Moon in Plymouth

Matt Scutchfield worked on starting a music school in Ukraine, where the cosmopolitan aura of Europe made him feel most at home. But as word of the coronavirus started to spiral last February, he packed his violin and Ukrainian string instrument and caught a $150 flight with a zig-zag schedule back to Indiana. He quickly found himself inside of a performing venue called Wild Rose Moon, a roughly 150-year-old storefront at the center of his hometown, Plymouth, where he played Polish and Ukrainian tunes to benefit his future school. Here, the avowed big-city person, saying, “I don’t like small anything,” had come to this intimate stage for its last open mic before the pandemic shuttered all of its performances for four months.

Reservations full at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone next weekend

Vail Daily Ski reservations are full at all four Vail Resorts properties in Summit and Eagle counties Beaver Creek, Breckenridge Ski Resort, Keystone Resort and Vail Mountain for the Dec. 19-20 weekend. Reservations also are filling fast for the week after Christmas. Both Vail and Breckenridge are showing full reservations Dec. 28 to Jan. 2. Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Vail were among 34 of Vail Resorts’ North American ski areas to implement a reservations system this year in an effort to limit crowds amid the pandemic. Reservations are subject to change, and some previously closed reservations have reopened this season as resort capacity is altered depending on terrain availability. Vail Resorts implemented the reservations system voluntarily and is not sharing capacity numbers.
