Harris Pinpoints One Root Cause of Border Surge. Ted Cruz Shuts It Down.

Share Source: AP Photo/Evan Vucci Vice President Kamala Harris addressed some of what she claimed are the reasons for the surge at the U.S.-Mexico border on Tuesday, breaking the problem down between acute factors and root causes.  In a speech to the Washington Conference on the Americas, Harris named some of the “acute causes,” such as food insecurity, hurricanes, and COVID-19. As for the root causes, “I’m thinking of corruption, violence and poverty, the lack of economic opportunity, the lack of climate adaptation and climate resilience, the lack of good governance, she said. Ted Cruz Levels Kamala Harris' Hilarious Excuse for the Border Crisis

AP Photo/Evan Vucci The Biden regime has been trying to spin all kinds of reasons for the border crisis that they’ve repeatedly denied. But now Kamala Harris has come up with a new reason for the surge at the border and it’s a hilarious excuse. A couple of days ago, Jen Psaki tried to blame the Trump Administration for the surge, as my colleague Sister Toldjah reported. “I wanted to provide a brief update on the situation at our Southern border. After four years of an immigration system rooted in destructive and chaotic policies, President Biden is taking the challenge head-on and is building a fair, orderly, and humane immigration system. That’s our objective. After coming into office, our administration immediately jumped into action to address the influx of migrants at the border, something that began during and was exacerbated by the Trump administration…”

Biden Administration Takes Heat Following FDA's Menthol Ban

By Leia IdlibyApr 29th, 2021, 2:30 pm   Drew Angerer/Getty Images The US Food and Drug Administration announced its plan to ban menthol-flavored cigarettes and all flavored cigars on Thursday, and pundits on Twitter are far from thrilled. “Banning menthol the last allowable flavor in cigarettes and banning all flavors in cigars will help save lives, particularly among those disproportionately affected by these deadly products,” Acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock said in a statement. “With these actions, the FDA will help significantly reduce youth initiation, increase the chances of smoking cessation among current smokers, and address health disparities experienced by communities of color, low-income populations, and LGBTQ+ individuals, all of whom are far more likely to use these tobacco products.”

From the grave: Noonan on gun manufacturers' moral cooperation in evil

Rifles are seen inside the gun section of a sporting goods store. (CNS/Eduardo Munoz, Reuters) Run, do not walk, to read the new edition of the journal Theological Studies. There you will find the text of a talk delivered 21 years ago but still so fresh you could slap it. In 2000, moral theologian and former federal judge John Noonan Jr. delivered a talk, Cooperation in the Culture of Death at the dedication of Notre Dame s Center for Ethics and Culture. The encyclical Evangelium Vitae was still only five years old at the time and the best theological minds were applying this magisterial teaching to a variety of issues. Noonan chose to look at two such issues: gun manufacturing and capital punishment.
