Yes, I know: that
is a weird title for an article! But, the fact is there is a link between the all three of the above. Namely, that where strange creatures are seen there is often a link to pubs. At least, there is in the U.K. And I should know! In 2011, author and creature-seeker Neil Arnold noted: “Many years ago when I first began writing for
Animals & Men magazine [the Center for Fortean Zoology’s in-house magazine] I mentioned to [CFZ director] Jon Downes something regarding cryptozoological pub signs. There are many
St. George and the Dragon signs, and I know a few which also mention unicorns. However, one particular pub sign, which is of great interest to me is that which belongs to the
Quantum Science has moved into the Techspace One development at the science and technology hub. First set up in 2018, the firm uses nanotechnology to develop advanced materials for use in the semiconductor, environmental and biomedical sectors. It has previously been based at Sci-Tech Daresbury’s Campus Technology Hub, but has relocated to the larger new headquarters after enjoying two-and-a-half years of healthy growth. Founder and chief executive Dr Hao Pang said: “It’s a particularly exciting time for science and innovation companies as demand increases for new and exciting services across many different sectors. “That’s why we are really pleased to be able to move into the new Techspace One building at Sci-Tech Daresbury and make use of its incredible community and research space to support our future growth and product development plans.

My previous article was titled “The Paranormal Side of the Bigfoot Mystery.” As the title suggests it is focused on the weirder, supernatural aspects of the puzzle. It should be noted that Bigfoot is not the only unknown ape that seems to exhibit strange powers. And that’s the theme of today’s article: the other apes of the
very mysterious type. In the period from late 2002 to early 2003, the United Kingdom was gripped by a series of strange but intriguing reports of Bigfoot-style beasts, all across the nation. Jon Downes, of the Center for Fortean Zoology, well recalls the events, more than a decade down the line: “There occurred a huge ‘flap’ of Big Hairy Men (BHM) sightings throughout the British Isles that we could not afford to ignore and that required our immediate attention. Indeed, such was the scale of this extraordinary wave of encounters that, even as we made firm plans for an expedition in March, a handful of new sightings of large, man-beasts from the Bol
How Project Ultraviolet at Sci-Tech Daresbury could look NEW office space and laboratories could be built at Sci-Tech Daresbury. An application has been submitted to Halton Borough Council seeking outline planning permission for Project Ultraviolet, which would see the construction of five buildings of ‘grade A’ offices and labs totalling 180,000sq ft. This development would be situated next to the science and tech hub’s £17.8million Project Violet, which is currently under construction and due to be completed by the end of 2021. The proposals aim to ‘further expand and enhance the world class facilities’ at Sci-Tech Daresbury, which welcomed 28 new tenants during 2020 – with several other firms currently in discussions to move to the aforementioned Project Violet.
