Going With the Flow at Guadalupe River State Park

Going With the Flow at Guadalupe River State Park This slice of Hill Country heaven offers ample opportunity for fun, as long as Mother Nature is in the right mood. Sometimes the easy park gives you the most trouble. You expect challenges at a place like far-flung Bentsen–Rio Grande Valley State Park, at the very southern edge of the state, where I and my trusty sidekick, Emily, spent a dark night in a lonely tent within earshot of the Rio Grande at an otherwise deserted campground. Or Big Bend Ranch, in far West Texas, where reaching our ridiculously remote campsite required a bone- and nerve-rattling journey through unforgiving desert. But during our most recent attempt at mild-mannered adventure, it was laid-back, family-friendly Guadalupe River State Park that thwarted us at every turn.

The best wide receiver draft classes of all time

Team 90s in this debate includes two Hall of Famers, four 10,000-yard receivers, and eight Pro Bowlers. The Jets began the draft with Keyshawn Johnson the last receiver to go No. 1 and the Colts grabbed Marvin Harrison with a first-round pick obtained via 1994 s Jeff George trade. A year after trading up for J.J. Stokes, the 49ers found Jerry Rice s true heir apparent in Terrell Owens (Round 3). This class s depth, however, wins out. First-rounder Eric Moulds made three Pro Bowls and took the Bills WR1 baton from Andre Reed; Joe Horn (Round 5) made four as a Saint; Muhsin Muhammad (Round 2) played 14 seasons; the Giants depended on Amani Toomer for over a decade. Also including Terry Glenn, Bobby Engram, and Eddie Kennison, this draft remains the bar 25 years later.

Ichi Ban on top as TP52s go toe-to-toe in SailFest Newcastle

TP52 Gold Cup at SailFest Newcastle © Salty Dingo It was a rare sight indeed to see eight top-flight TP52s going toe-to-toe on a start line, but ultimately a familiar name topped the IRC leader board on Day 1 of the TP52 Gold Cup at Newcastle SailFest Regatta. Matt Allen s Ichi Ban claimed two of the three windward-leeward races contested off Newcastle s Merewether Beach as the harbour city turned on a fluky and fluctuating south-westerly breeze. Those results were contrasted, however, by a sixth placing in Race 2. It was a mixed bag out there and I don t think any boat strung three great races together, Allen said. In the middle race the breeze started shifting then just died on us. Otherwise the conditions were really good, and it s certainly the best fleet of TPs that I ve seen together in Australia.
