The U.S. Department of Labor s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) this week issued a proposed rule to update the agency s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) to align with the seventh revision of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).
OSHA expects the HCS update will increase worker protections, and reduce the incidence of chemical-related occupational illnesses and injuries by further improving the information on the labels and Safety Data Sheets for hazardous chemicals. Proposed modifications will also address issues since implementation of the 2012 standard, and improve alignment with other federal agencies and Canada.

The National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) issued a bulletin effective January 27, 2021, alerting the nation to a high threat environment. The Department of Homeland Security alert extends through April 30, 2021.
The Acting Secretary of Homeland Security has issued a National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin due to a heightened threat environment across the United States, which DHS believes will persist in the weeks following the successful Presidential Inauguration. Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition and other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence.
