Attending church services on or around Christmas is a tradition held by many families. The Era reached out to several local area churches to see what message they would be delivering to the congregation this holiday season.
Lay Worship Leader John Kearns, from the Emanuel Lutheran Church, said heâll be focusing his sermon on how when the savior of the world was being born, there was no room at the inn.
âAre we making room for him in our lives at this point?,â he asked. âWith all the things going on with COVID-19 and everything else, we need God in our lives now more than ever. We need to make sure weâre putting him first.â
Cannabis chat at Suisun council session deals with security, advertising, landscaping
Shryne Group Inc. is under consideration to open a dispensary and distribution center on Railroad Avenue.
The proposals dealt with the business permit and site plans, amending the city zoning map to add a cannabis zone, and approving a development agreement.
They passed unanimously and will come back before the council again in the new year.
The Shryne Group already operates within California. The company wants to use the buildings at 521 Railroad Ave. to operate under the moniker Authentic 707.
“It’s the first cannabis application processed,” said John Kearns, senior planner for Suisun City.
(.and makes a doll s house comedy club)
John-Luke Roberts has recorded a new comedy album, It Is Better, which he hopes to release on vinyl.
The show – his ninth – was designed to be performed without a live audience, and features its own score.
Plans to record a live LP were scuppered by the pandemic, but Robert explained: ‘I realised my favourite comedy records didn’t have an audience.
‘So I sat down thinking of albums like Sir Henry at Rawlinson End and Ivor Cutler’s Dandruff and grew more and more excited at the prospect. Without an audience, a comedy record can achieve a startling intimacy.’
