The “Blizzard of ’96” rolled into the North Quabbin region with snow, sub-freezing temperatures and high winds. Schools are closed throughout the nine town region and across the state, with many businesses announcing shift closings or delayed openings. Town roads are passable in Athol and Orange, but highway superintendents said roadways are getting narrower with each storm. The major problem now is finding a place to put it all. Depths of up to 18 inches were reported in area towns.
Andrew Hung and Benjamin John Power . The pair creates music that’s been compared to the sound of God blowing his nose in slow motion, a tumultuous brew of primordial percussion and sci-fi laser sonics. Their debut album
Street Horrrsing is released via ATP Recordings on March 17. It’s an
experience, less a listen.
The band recently wrapped up a series of UK dates, alongside labelmate
Alexander Tucker, to support the album’s release; they’re presently touring stateside, and will be back in the UK for ATP and a date with Battles in May, as well as a slot on the Primavera Sound bill. But back to the present: below is their diary of their most recent domestic travels in the name of super-amplified aural adventures.

New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who won her re-election bid after she defeated Republican challenger John Cummings by a considerably large margin last month
, had to face defeat in a race for a seat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee as her Democratic colleagues voted mainly for fellow NY Representative Kathleen Rice in a secret ballot.
According to a report in Politico on Thursday, December 17, the two Demoratic Congresswomen were battling behind the scenes for weeks to secure one of the few open seats on the powerful House committee that oversees everything from issues like healthcare and climate. Tensions over the race were plainly visible in a private meeting of the Steering and Policy Committee on Thursday, December 17, where the Dems were forced to choose between the two women leaders in a “tense and awkward” secret ballot vote, the report added.

In a $14 billion election cycle, candidates in closely-watched House races around the country spent billions in pursuit of victory.
The most expensive of these 2020 House races counting both candidate cash and outside spending was New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District. Of the roughly $37.3 million spent, $12.9 came from candidates. Incumbent Democratic Rep. Xochitl Torres Small raised around $8.4 million, but Republican challenger Yvette Herrell won the seat despite raising about $2.8 million. An additional $24.3 million came from outside groups like super PACs and “dark money” organizations.
Of that total, just under $1.5 million was spent in support of Torres Small’s campaign, while about $10.9 million was spent opposing her. About $1.3 million was spent in support of Herrell, and with $10.2 million spent against her.

Handle dispute without inflaming the situation
Our government has decided to poke the Chinese dragon with a number of sticks, including blocking $14billion of foreign investment, some of which had been approved by the Foreign Investment Review Board, launching anti-dumping investigations and blocking Huawei from our 5G market. There has been criticism of Chinaâs human rights record and an independent inquiry on the origin of the coronavirus has been called for. The dragon is not happy and punitive measures are being applied, including restrictions on trade that will have a devastati
