REDSTONE After a four-year hiatus, residents of the Crystal River valley are reviving efforts to protect the upper portion of the river through a federal designation.
The Crystal River Caucus, Pitkin County, the Crystal Valley Environmental Protection Association and others are once again discussing designating the upper 39 miles of the river from the two branches of its headwaters in the Snowmass-Maroon Bells Wilderness to the first major downstream irrigation diversion, the Sweet Jessup Canal as Wild & Scenic.
Blue Waters Cricket Club (BWCC) 1 defeated Sparta 2 with 9 wickets in the final of the First Division T20 Coastal Cricket League at the Sparta Recreational Sports Club on Sunday 24 January 2021.
Sparta 2 won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 96 runs for the loss of 8 wickets off their 20 overs with Herman van Zyl their top batsman with 33 runs with Raynard van Zyl their best bowler as he bowled Zhivago Groenewald.
Samson Chivi and Zhivago Groenewald did the work for BWCC 1 with a 94-run partnership, before Herman van Zyl dismissed Groenewald for 43runs. Justis ‘Dallas’ Hangula scored the last 3 runs to reach 97/1 for the newly crowned champions.

On Jan. 14, an unseasonably warm and clear Thursday in Yosemite National Park, Anna Horn went for a solo hike up Yosemite Falls. Horn lives close to the park and works as a bartender in the gateway town of Mariposa, allowing her to visit frequently.
Partway up the steep climb to the top of the tallest waterfall in North America, she encountered another solo hiker, a middle-aged Asian woman with a green backpack.
Surrey woman pleads for return of baby s ashes from stolen truck
A Surrey woman is appealing to anyone who has information about a truck stolen on Jan. 12, which contained the ashes of her deceased son and her father.
