The Waynesboro Community Theatre Project and Mainstreet Waynesboro are rolling out a fun list of movies to be shown this year at Waynesboro Theatre. Our first showing of the new season was Titanic , which set sail March 27, said Bill Kohler, director of economic development for Mainstreet Waynesboro Inc. We had 132 people in attendance for that showing.
According to Kohler, both organizations involved are working under CDC, DOH and CinemaSafe guidelines, which mandate 50% capacity as well as social distancing.
Counting Titanic , Mainstreet Waynesboro Inc. and the theater have 46 movies scheduled through the end of the year.

The inaugural Founders Day celebration is set to take place on March 20 in Waynesboro, showcasing local history. The day will focus on the strength and resilience of the community, both past and present.
According to Whitney Warner, owner of Warner s Soda Shoppe, who is spearheading the event, the idea came about after a meeting of downtown business owners. We wanted to do something as a thank you to the community and celebrate the small wins and milestones of this year, Warner said. The goal of the event is to inspire young minds to learn about events that have shaped our borough, our town, and our county.

What started as a photo and a text message between Mainstreet Waynesboro Inc. Director Bill Kohler and Borough Manager Jason Stains has resulted in three just-like-new historical markers restored in time for Founders Day in Waynesboro on March 20.
The signs The Gettysburg Campaign (1947), Old Log Building, (1955) and John Wallace Jr. (1955) are located on Main Street in Waynesboro in the area of Virginia Avenue. The process started when Kohler noticed on a recent drive that the markers were showing signs of age.
“Bill texted me a picture of the signs asking if I had an idea how to get them repaired, Stains said. From there we talked with the folks at the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and within a matter of minutes we had a response and they said they would get right on it. I couldn’t believe the speed at which this was completed, all at no cost to Mainstreet or the borough.
