Woodslane Farm s homebred Sadler s Joy made his career graded-stakes debut in the 2017 W. L. McKnight at Gulfstream Park, and 27 graded-stakes starts later, the Tom Albertrani turf warrior is still going strong.
The resilient 8-year-old son of Kitten s Joy is scheduled to make his 2021 return to Gulfstream Park for the $125,000 W. L. McKnight (G3) on Saturday s 12-race program that will be co-headlined by the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) and the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1).
“He s training great. He s been very feisty lately, like he always is,” trainer Tom Albertrani said. “He s not showing any signs of wear and tear, that s for sure.”
A NEW cultural festival exploring issues relating to the environment, climate change, education and employment will take place this year. Big Ideas by the Sea is taking over the former Thomas Cook shop, in Scarborough, from May 14 to 16. The festival is the brainchild of artist Kane Cunningham and former City of York archaeologist, John Oxley, and will be focusing on concerns facing communities and people from across the globe. Speakers will include mountaineer Alan Hinkes, Professor Joann Fletcher, photographer Joe Cornish and adventurer and TV presenter Paul Rose. “We did plan the festival for May 2020, though like many events we had to postpone due to the pandemic, so are announcing now our intention to run the festival in May 2021,” said Kane Cunningham.

Gulfstream Park officials announced Sunday additional invitations to the $3-million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) and $1-million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1), to be held Saturday, Jan. 23 at the Hallandale Beach, Fla., track.
Independence Hall, a 12 ¼-length winner of the Nashua (G2) at two and runner-up in the Sam F. Davis (G3) at three, and Coastal Defense, fourth Nov. 27 in the Clark (G1), have received invitations for the 1 1/8-mile Pegasus World Cup and have been added to the also-eligible list.
Moving into the main body of the Pegasus World Cup from the also-eligible list are Grade 1 winner Math Wizard and Tampa Bay Derby (G2) winner King Guillermo.
