For the nation’s top running back, there was no drama around his commitment to Alabama. Because of the silence out of his camp, crootin reporters conjured up imaginary scenarios of
Camar Wheaton wavering on his pledge to the Crimson Tide.
On Wednesday’s National Signing Day, the 5-star from Garland, TX put those tall tales in the ground and buried them six feet deep as he signed with the Tide in a ceremony at his school.
An interesting thing we learned about Wheaton is that he doesn’t like to do interviews and doesn’t like to talk about his recruiting. That sounds an awful lot like Najee Harris’s recruitment.
With the hiring of Bill O’Brien came mixed reactions from the Tide community. I for one wasn’t sold on it. With him being the sole proprietor responsible for the collapse of the Houston Texans, how could he walk in and get the OC job? Especially, after I put in my application. Once the jealousy subsided, I decided to do a deep dive into what the offense could look like with O’Brien at the helm.
For starters, O’Brien is 52-48 as a big boy league coach which is very respectable, and his firing was more of an indictment on his decision-making as a GM than anything else.

“Chris has been here for many years, and he’s also one of my close buddies,” Jones said. “He does a good job. He’s played tackle, guard, center. We go way back years and years. We have that same communication level. We’ve been working on it this week.
“I’ve been really proud of him and the opportunity that he’s gotten. I mean, that’s a great experience just to be able to say, ‘Hey, I’m starting the College Football Playoff game and I’ve been here a while.’ We have that same similar late-bloom, so I’m just really excited for Chris. We’re on the same page and we’re ready to roll.”
