PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) - Singing River Health System retirees are back in court. And just like a few years ago, theyâre demanding full payment of their pension funds.
The lawsuit filed Wednesday by attorneys Jim Reeves and Matthew Mestayer alleges fraud, false representation and gross negligence.
You may remember back in 2016 Singing River Health System settled the case against it, agreeing to a settlement where they would pay the retirement fund trust $149 million over the next 35 years. This new lawsuit claims Gary Brown and 270 other Singing River Health System retirees are not getting paid 100% of the benefits they were awarded in that 2016 s
A driver was killed and his passenger was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Jackson County Wednesday morning.
Troopers from the Athens Post of the Georgia State Patrol were called to the accident scene on SR 330 at Savage Road just after 6:30 a.m. The investigation found that a silver Infiniti Q50 (passenger car) was traveling north on Savage Road, said SFC Timothy Meyer in an email statement. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign at its intersection with SR 330. The Infiniti traveled across the roadway, off the north side of SR 330 and into the wood line.
OHA Reported 764 New Cases of COVID-19 and 8 Related Deaths Wednesday
The Oregon Health Authority reported 764 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 Wednesday as well as 8 more deaths from the disease.
According to the OHA, the statewide number of cases increased to 120,223 and the statewide death toll rose to 1,558 since the pandemic began.
OHA reported 44 new cases of coronavirus in Jackson County Wednesday, raising that total to 6,211. One additional fatality in Jackson raised their total of fatalities to 75.
The State reported 11 new cases in Josephine County yesterday increasing the total number of cases locally at 1,340.
There were 10 new cases reported in Douglas County for a total of 1,484 and one additional death raising that total to 42.
