Travellers Lane, Hatfield

A delay in road repairs has been described as a cruel joke on Hatfield residents.
Funds have been redirected in the county’s budget away from road repairs, according to a Lib Dem councillor, meaning some schemes have been postponed.
County councillor for Hatfield South, Paul Zukowskyj, claims that this measure has had a big impact on local residents.
Cllr Zukowskyj said: “This is a cruel joke on the residents of Hatfield South. Travellers Lane is no minor side road but a major thoroughfare in the town. It currently looks like a moonscape and vehicles are already slaloming down the road to avoid the morass of potholes. Now we find the funding to repair it has been cut, so the earliest this road will get fixed is now April 2022.

Iâm inspired by Rachel Sauerâs columns in the Sunday Daily Sentinel. And jealous, since theyâre often of the âWish Iâd written thatâ variety. Her effort last weekend was no exception.
Rachelâs humorous excerpts from various âYou know youâre from Colorado ifâ¦â lists as well as her own additions, brought to mind similar efforts from yours truly beginning in January 2006.
The response to those âBoomer Timesâ columns in the late Grand Junction Free Press was overwhelming. Even I donât have originals of all of them. The Free Press ran out of copies of the Thursday papers in which they appeared. Readers asked for e-mail versions, which I happily supplied until the flash drive to which Iâd saved the initial columns went AWOL. They also offered their own memories, which fueled additional columns.
The best walks in the UK for an active break after lockdown
A lung-full of fresh air and the best scenery Britain has to offer walkers
By Anya Meyerowitz and edited by Roshina Jowaheer 19/02/2021 Mike Harrington
Britain is bursting with countless walks, from gentle trails for days out in the countryside, to serious (sometimes hilly) treks for hardcore ramblers. It may not have the lofty peaks of the Alps or the epic thousands-of-miles treks of the United States, but the best walks in the UK are certainly capable of holding their own.
Well signposted paths and thoughtfully planned routes mean that anyone with a hardy pair of boots can immerse themselves in the British landscape at it best - from estuary-riddled strolls to the tempestuous Cornish cliffs.
