Welcome, N.C. With her team s back against the wall, Southern Alamance pitcher threw a no-hitter against Alexander Central in Game 2 of the NCHSAA 3A Softball State Championship Series at North Davidson High School on Saturday.
Isley Duggins allowed no runs and no hits the only runners reaching base on an error and a walk while striking out five over seven innings to lead the Patriots (16-4, 7-1 Mid-Piedmont 3A) to a 3-0 win over the Cougars (16-4, 10-2 Northwestern 3A/4A).

Charlotte Catholic s football team won a fourth-straight state championship with a 14-7 victory over Havelock in the NCHSAA 3A title game at Carter-Finley Stadium on Friday.
The driving force for the Cougars (8-1, 5-1 Southern Carolina 3A) was the defense, as they shut out the Rams (10-1, 5-0 Coastal 3A) in the second half and held UNC running back commit Kamarro Edmonds to 61 yards rushing on 15 attempts (4.1 yards per carry) and a touchdown. Havelock averaged 52.1 points per contest heading into the game, and was held to just 201 yards of total offense.

Raleigh, N.C. Salisbury s football team waited nearly 17 months for the opportunity to avenge its 34-0 loss to Shelby in the state championship game. And on Thursday, the Hornets finally got to seize that opportunity with a 42-21 win over St. Pauls to lift the 2AA title at Carter Finley Stadium.
Things didn t always go smoothly this season for the Hornets (9-2, 4-2 Central Carolina 2A), who received a wild card bid to the postseason after finishing third in their conference behind North Davidson and Oak Grove. But while they may not have gotten to claim the conference crown, the second state championship trophy in program history will have to suffice.

East Forsyth s softball team carried its dominant regular season form into the postseason with a 10-0 win in six innings over visiting Green Level in the first round of the NCHSAA 4A Playoffs on Tuesday.
The Eagles (15-0, 8-0 Central Piedmont 4A) have won 21-straight games dating back to last season. The victory marked their sixth of the season by 10 or more runs.
Junior pitcher Keirston Deal put in another stellar performance in the circle, allowing just three hits while striking out 15 over six innings to get the shutout.
