Back in 1992 Bruce Sterling described cyberspace as the place where a phone conversation seems to happen – not in the devices themselves but some imagined zone in between. The boundaries of that space have expanded exponentially since the nineties, but perhaps the biggest surprise is that much of the romance and wonder promised in its sublime digital potential is currently finding its way onto a supposedly archaic format – the trusty cassette.

Six Canadian startups have recently announced fresh funding rounds to fuel their growth. Here’s the latest on who raised, how much, from whom, and what they’ll be putting the new funds toward.
Botpress lands $15 million Series A
Botpress, a Québec City-based startup that aims to help developers build conversational-based apps, has raised a $15 million Series A round of funding.
The round was led by venture firm Decibel with participation of Inovia Capital, Panache Ventures, Real Ventures, Hike Ventures, One Way Ventures, Fonds Innovexport, and Boxone Ventures. Decibel’s Jon Sakoda will join Botpress’s board of directors as part of the deal.

As a freshman, he took one to the house, returning 10 total kicks for 119 yards.

How did this happen? Brisbane Airport’s Covid-safe plan has been approved by the Queensland Government and has received an Airports Health Accreditation, which is reviewed by the Airports Council International. All passengers are required to wear masks within the airport – even in the carpark – and sanitising and physical distancing are recommended and encouraged. Specific details around how the green and red zones operate haven’t yet been revealed by the airport, but based on information on the website, quarantine-free passengers proceed through the international departure process as they would have pre-Covid. Passengers go through security screening and passport control before arriving at their departure gate.
