On May 3, Justin Lee, a senior horticulturist at the garden, was checking on a group of Karomia gigas tree saplings in a greenhouse when he spotted the flower. The tree, related to mint and originally from Africa, is one of the world’s most critically endangered tree species.

They have opted into a pilot project to try ranked choice voting for municipal elections. This is a big deal. I think we have more cities doing ranked choice voting in Utah than the rest of the country combined, said Justin Lee, the state elections director for the Utah Lt. Governor s Office. Monday was the deadline for communities to opt into the ranked choice voting pilot project. The communities participating are:

California Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Unlawfully Possessing a Gun Details Written by IVN Sacramento, California - U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley sentenced Billy Paul Dunn, 48, of Sacramento, today to 10 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced. According to court documents, Dunn has been previously convicted of six felony offenses as well as misdemeanor crimes of violence for threats with intent to terrorize, assault with a deadly weapon, and battery on a non-cohabitating spouse. Dunn was released from state custody on Post Release Community Supervision in October 2019. In August 2020, Dunn was arrested with a loaded gun.
