The Ottawa County Clerks and Register of Deeds Office received a Clearinghouse Award for Outstanding Innovations in Election Cybersecurity and Technology from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) for its #OttawaVotes campaign.
The #OttawaVotes campaign began in 2019 with a goal of improving communication and transparency toward voters for the 2020 election cycle. The awareness campaign used billboards, radio spots and social media to spread factual information about local election processes and how to participate in the democratic process.
Michigan s primary election date would change under bipartisan proposal
Lansing A bipartisan proposal that would shift Michigan s primary election from August to June with potential reverberating political implications will at least get a committee hearing in the state Senate.
The idea is backed by Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat. This week, state Sen. Ruth Johnson, R-Holly, the former GOP secretary of state, said the proposal will be debated before her Senate Elections Committee. I am not guaranteeing a vote, Johnson cautioned.

Ottawa County is halfway through their election audit.
Ottawa County Clerk Justin Roebuck says with five precincts completed, all of the ballots have applications and the hand count matches the machine totals.
Roebuck s office has shared the audit on social media to explain the process and have transparency with the public.
The process is scheduled to take the rest of the week.
