Three Cuban nationals were rescued in the Bahamas Tuesday after being stranded at sea for over a month. The US Coast Guard spotted the trio in distress while doing a routine patrol near Anguilla Cay.
Coast Guard Lieutenant Justin Riley says once they assessed the situation, their main concern was getting the group to safety. We re lucky we were able to get out there for them. We re lucky we have a great asset. Fuel wasnt a huge concern for us. We have plenty of fuel we were able to stay with them for a few hours, Riley said.
