The Brewers’ top pitching prospect found his pitching coach in the dugout. Ethan Small had just emptied the tank to get a strikeout with his 90th and final pitch on Saturday night in Double-A Biloxi, stranding another baserunner on a night full of them.
“I missed that,” Small said.

Jake Eder had to wait a while to make a competitive first impression on his new organization. By the end of his first inning on the mound, he had four strikeouts. Mission accomplished.
In his debut professional start, Miami’s No. 24 prospect struck out 12 against three walks and allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings, earning the win as Double-A Pensacola beat Mississippi, 5-1.
Eder’s first night as a Double-A starting pitcher began in a quirky way. After fanning Mississippi’s Justin Dean to kick off the game, the left-hander whiffed Braden Shewmake for what looked like the inning’s second out. A wild pitch for strike three, however, allowed Shewmake to reach first base. Trey Harris followed with a walk, and the pair combined for a double steal to put both in scoring position.

The Mississippi Braves are going to have an interesting group of talent in 2021. The lineup should be a blast to watch on a daily basis and they mix in some fun talent in the pitching staff to give them reason to be watched. Lets take a look at the roster.

Pitching
Nolan Kingham has reportedly been a standout in extended spring training, and there’s reason to believe he could find himself in Triple-A to start the season. That said, with the crowded rotation I expect he may get an opportunity when someone is promoted but for now will just stick in Double-A for a little bit. He had a 3.79 ERA in Mississippi in 2019, but a 4.64 FIP with a lot of home runs and very few strikeouts in 35 ⅔ innings. One would like to see him strikeout more batters than he has in his professional career

Marvel’s “Black Panther,” one of the all-time highest-grossing films at the worldwide box office, is the starkest recent reminder that stories led by Black characters made by Black creators have monetary value to the mainstream when done right. The CW’s “Black Lightning” and Netflix’s “Luke Cage” brought Black superheroes to television, and in the just-concluded Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, after some initial resistance, becomes Captain America. But before these Black superheroes were seen on movie and TV screens, they were in comic books.
It’s true that, as in other parts of the entertainment business, issues of representation have plagued the world of comic books. Yet Black storytellers in the comic book industry are no longer invisible. They’re also not one-offs without voice or vision or impact within the industry.
