Spotify has launched a new Songwriters Hub in its apps and web player designed to promote and highlight the creators behind some of the world’s biggest hits. The new centralized hub features Spotify’s Written By playlists – created to show off the work of some of the industry’s most popular songwriters along with other popular songwriting playlists, as well as podcasts focused on songwriting and sections for featured songwriters and featured releases from those scribes.
This is the latest move by Spotify to ingratiate itself into the songwriting community this year. In February the streaming service launched the Written By playlists and Songwriter Pages, which allows songwriters to share the music they’ve written on the platform and gives fans the ability to “dive deeper into the creators behind their favorite songs.
These days, with more and more public figures coming forward about their sexuality, it was only a matter of time that we here at TheBacklot.com put together a list of the most influential and intriguing openly gay and bisexual male musicians of the past century. Compiling a list like this was no small feat.
While we’ve limited this to only 50 musicians, the number of openly gay artists far surpasses that number, and we’re sure you will likely spot an artist near and dear to your heart that we left out. Trust us that it was not done in malice. The multimedia events will feature songs and scenes from the shows in development; conversation about process, research, and collaboration; and interactive Q&As with the audience.

Spotify Expands Songwriters Hub To Feature More Creators
Spotify has officially launched its Songwriters Hub providing a destination to discover the creators behind songs. Since Songwriter Pages launched in beta in February, songs with clickable songwriting credits have accumulated more than 127 billion streams on the streamer.
The hub includes a collection of “Written By” playlists, songwriting-focused podcasts, popular songwriter playlists, and a rotating slate of featured songwriters and releases, and shelves dedicated to holidays and cultural moments.
