Ohio State should have won that game. Full stop. There s no good reason that the Buckeyes should have lost that game. They did everything necessary to win. Unfortunately, the offense sputtered just enough in the first half to make it an L instead of a W on the schedule. It s really, really unfortunate, given how well the defense played.
Let s give credit where it is due. The Buckeye defense held Rutgers to its second-lowest output of the season. In 2021, holding the Scarlet Knights to 10 tallies is an incredible job. Maryland got them down to just 9 a week ago, but has not struggled defensively anywhere near the level Ohio State has. I criticize harshly, but Travis Crane and the defense he coaches deserve a ton of credit for keeping the Buckeyes in this game. A ton of credit.

After having the first four games of their season postponed, the UMass Minutemen took the field for the first time in 369 days on Sunday afternoon against the Fairfield Stags, winning 13-9 in a CAA contest.
Chris Connolly paced the Minutemen offense with a hat trick while Gabriel Procyk and Billy Philpott each had two goals and one assist for three points. Freshman Dillon Arrant had two goals in his college debut.
Matt Knote seemingly picked up right where he left off during his freshman campaign a season ago, making 10 saves with a 52% save percentage in cage. However, the Minutemen defense in front of him also deserves a ton of credit. UMass caused 11 turnovers in the game, which included eight in the second half alone. Fairfield ended the game with a total of 20 turnovers.
It s the week. THE week. The week by which entire seasons can be measured. And, since Covid-19 s still a thing, we get a double dose. Let s hit it.
The past two games have been horrible. No way to sugarcoat it. But this week is an opportunity to set things right. Against the rival of rivals, no less. And Ohio State should have plenty to go on.
The Wolverines have a decent, not great, offense. Attackman Josh Zawada, #49, is the big gun, who can hurt you in a variety of ways. Zawada lights up the scoreboard, usually in a losing effort, and would be a starter pretty much anywhere in the country.
