STAMFORD Denise McLaughlin was a loving mother, a dedicated volunteer, an aspiring entrepreneur and a devout Christian, according to friends.
But the 50-year-old Jamaican native’s promising life was cut short late last month when she was stabbed to death inside of her Stamford home.
Police have since arrested her 25-year-old son, Winston Weathers, on murder charges, and state prosecutors say he has already issued a full confession to investigators.
Friends, however, are still coming to terms with McLaughlin’s death.
Marsha Wallace met McLaughlin a few years ago through a mutual acquaintance and their shared work with New York charities, and the two have been friends since.
