東京都新宿区の明治神宮外苑で2016年11月、ジャングルジム形の木製展示作品が燃え、中で遊んでいた男児（当時5）が死亡するなどした火災で、重過失致死傷の罪に問われた日本工業大の元男子大学生2人（当時18、19歳）の判決公判が13日、東京地裁であった。下津健司裁判長は「わずかな注意を払えば火災を十分に予見できた」として、いずれも禁錮10カ月執行猶予3年（求刑・禁錮1年）の判決を言い渡した。
判決によると、投光器が木くずに触れて火災が起き、男児を助けようとした父親も重傷を負った。
