Japan has announced they will provide over 340,000 items for Bangladesh s COVID-19 response, including isolation gowns, safety goggles, gloves, and masks.
The items include 30,000 isolation gowns, 2,500 safety goggles, 100,000 gloves, and 208,000 masks, which are part of the Asia-Europe Foundation s stockpiled items financed by Japan, said the Japanese embassy in Bangladesh in a statement today.
Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) is a permanent body of Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) engaged in multiple activities focusing on social and cultural fields. These goods will be delivered by Japan International Cooperation System (JICS) to Bangladesh from the warehouse in Singapore, in coordination with the WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia, it said.

The Fiji Police Force continues to train officers as it prepares to receive specialized maritime capabilities through the Japan International Cooperation System.
In 2018 the Japanese government committed to equip the Fiji Police Force with Maritime Safety and Security equipment, valued at close to $6 million under its Economic Social Development Programme.
The assistance is expected to improve the Force’s coast guard capacity by providing lifeboats and other maritime safety equipment.

These will be used for search and rescue efforts in coastal areas when disasters strikes. It will also positively impact disaster prevention and mitigation efforts.
