How idle does a video game have to be before we label it an “idle game”? Can a game be a perfect mobile game if it’s not available on mobile? Is it still “tower defense” if you’re rooting for the little dude to make it through? Will these goddamn vampires get off my back for a second so I can drop my food orbs back off at camp? These are the kinds of questions that race through my mind while playing
Loop Hero, the new small-dose strategy game out this week on Steam from Four Quarters, and published by Devolver Digital. Which means I’ve been thinking about this stuff a lot, because

Artifact has now failed twice. After a messy launch and a failed attempt to reboot it last year, Valve announced today it’s calling it quits on the beleaguered
Dota 2 card game.
“It’s now been about a year and a half since the current
Artifact team began work on a reboot in earnest,” the game’s development team wrote in a new blog post. “While we’re reasonably satisfied we accomplished most of our game-side goals, we haven’t managed to get the active player numbers to a level that justifies further development at this time. As such, we’ve made the tough decision to stop development on the

Hasbro has announced a new partnership between its Entertainment One studio and Nickelodeon to release a brand new
Transformers animated series. Unlike the recent fare like Netflix’s
War for Cybertron trilogy which has presented a darker, G1-inspired take on the canon for older fans this new show seems much more in line with series like
Transformers Animated or
Robots in Disguise: a light-hearted action-comedy take on Optimus and pals.
Or maybe not Optimus and pals, specifically: interestingly, the show isn’t a retelling of the classic Autobot/Decepticon conflict. Deadline reports that the series is about a group of a new kind of Transformer that seeks to find their place in the world, whether that world be Earth or Cybertron, after being adopted by a human family.

The Sinking City developer Frogwares has publicly accused former publisher Nacon of pirating the Lovecraftian adventure game for its recent re-release on Steam, the arrival of which put the Ukrainian studio in the weird position of asking potential customers not to purchase its own game last week.
Advertisement that the game was removed from Steam earlier today at the request of developers Frogwares, who issued a DMCA takedown notice against publisher Nacon which Valve “responded to”. Original story follows.
On February 26, following the game’s sudden appearance on Steam, Frogwares tweeted that “we do not recommend the purchase” of
