McKinley Named Lead Republican on Environment and Climate Change
Mineral Daily News-Tribune
WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E., (WV-1) has been selected to serve as Ranking Member of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment and Climate Change.
This subcommittee has jurisdiction over many environmental regulations and will be a central venue for debate over the Democrats’ climate change and energy agenda.
“Being chosen to serve as Ranking Member is a great honor and recognition of our leadership and work on energy issues over the last ten years,” said McKinley. “This subcommittee will be the tip of the sphere in fighting the Biden Administration and Democrat Majority’s extreme climate change policies.”

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) State lawmakers Monday passed a bill extending the state s ban on residential evictions related to the coronavirus pandemic, past its Jan. 1 deadline.
Pending evictions and those begun within a month of when the bill takes effect would be put on hold to allow people to submit a “hardship declaration” that would prevent any evictions until May 1.
The bill would also protect landlords who own fewer than 10 units from foreclosure or tax liens caused by their lost income.
The bill passed in the New York State Senate and the Assembly.

Chautauqua County’s two representatives in the New York State Legislature voted against a housing eviction moratorium that passed through both Assembly and Senate committees during a special session on Monday.
The COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Act, drafted on Christmas Eve, aims to prevent evictions for those who have experienced financial hardship from the pandemic, protect against foreclosure and tax lien sales for residential property owners, prohibit negative credit reporting and discrimination in extending credit and automatically renew senior citizens’ homeowner and disabled homeowner exemptions.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo, in a televised press briefing on Monday, announced his intentions to sign the bill once it was passed and further enforce it via executive order. The state Legislature reconvened on Monday.
