Kentucky State Fair Moving Forward For August

Credit Kentucky State Fair / Facebook   The Kentucky State Fair Board voted Thursday to move forward with plans to have the fair in August while preparing to make potential adjustments due to the pandemic.   Kentucky Venues President and CEO David Beck in a statement said the state fair is an important event for thousands in the state, with the economic activity it creates having the potential to help the economy recover.    “While we will need to make adjustments to respond to COVID-19, we plan to produce as much of the Fair as safely possible. We look forward to once again being where Kentucky comes together,” Beck said.

United States of Weed

United States of Weed Elisabeth Garber-Paul © Rolling Stone If it seems like a new state is legalizing cannabis nearly every week, don’t worry, you’re not high states are indeed legalizing the drug at an unprecedented pace. The wave of green legislation doesn’t seem like it’s going to start ebbing anytime soon, either. In just the past six months, every cannabis-related ballot measure put to voters last November passed including those in conservative Mississippi, Montana, and South Dakota and state legislatures in New York, New Mexico, and Virginia have approved bills to legalize cannabis for recreational use. That’s a lot of action. So much so, in fact, that there are now fewer states that have not legalized THC for either medicinal or recreational purposes (13), than there are that have given their residents a green light to smoke up at their leisure (17).

Republicans Maneuver to Keep Control of KY Senate Seat

PUBLISHED 9:04 PM ET Apr. 08, 2021 PUBLISHED 9:04 PM EDT Apr. 08, 2021 SHARE WASHINGTON, D.C. At 79-years-old, Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who has held his Senate seat since 1985, said he has no plans to retire. I don t think we are going to have a vacancy. I m not going anywhere. I just got elected to a six-year term and I m still the leader of my party in the Senate, said McConnell at a news conference in Kentucky earlier this week. But if he were to have a change of heart, the Republican-led Kentucky state legislature has secured a veto-proof measure that blocks Democratic Governor Andy Beshear s ability to pick a replacement for Senator McConnell or junior Senator Rand Paul in the event of a vacancy.
