At the same time, Republicans are preparing for a contentious runoff between Susan Wright and Jake Ellzey, even though Wright, backed by former President Donald Trump, would appear to start as the favorite.

A Texas Democratic candidate who got shut out of a special runoff election for a House seat is sounding the alarm about what the wipeout could mean for the 2022 midterms, according to a report.
Jana Lynne Sanchez, who ran to replace the late GOP Rep. Ron Wright in Texas’ 6th congressional district, says her narrow loss is “not a good omen” for Democrats seeking to cling to their narrow hold on both houses of Congress.
“I’m sounding the alarm bell . and I’m saying we really have to work hard,” Sanchez told Politico Wednesday. “It’s not a good portend for 2022 that we got shut out.”
