Ranchi: Stringent Covid-19 protocols will be in place for lawmakers, security personnel and the staff of the Jharkhand assembly secretariat in the upcoming Budget session, which will start from February 26.
Although Covid-19 infections in Jharkhand have declined in recent months, the lawmakers, security personnel and secretariat staff will have to undergo tests days before the House session gets underway, assembly sources said on Thursday. Taking a cue from the monsoon session, there will be social distancing in sitting arrangements for MLAs on the floor of the House while visitors’ gallery will remain out of bounds. While the assembly staff will be tested through RAT kits, lawmakers will be tested by RT-PCR and TrueNat machines, sources hinted.
Ranchi/Chennai: Jharkhand education minister Jagarnath Mahto, who underwent a double lung transplant at a Chennai hospital after his lungs were damaged by Covid-19, has recovered from the illness and the surgery and is fit for discharge, doctors treating him said on Thursday.
Mahto (54) was admitted to Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Superspecialty Hospital in Ranchi after he tested positive for Covid on October 1. Despite aggressive therapy including drugs such as Remdesiver and other steroids, the infection worsened, leaving him with low oxygen saturation level. As his condition worsened, doctors put him on a ventilator.
On October 19, he was flown down to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Healthcare in Chennai in an isolated pod of an air ambulance with life support (ventilator and ECMO).
