Karnataka home minister warns of action against hospitals over beds

Beware of oxygen cylinder scam; B luru police warns of fake verified leads Amid the unprecedented second wave of Covid-19 and sudden spike in cases, Karnataka on Tuesday warned legal action against all those hospitals that have failed to hand over beds to the government till date. Karnataka revenue minister, R. Ashoka and Home Minister, Basavaraj Bommai held an virtual meeting with officials concerned here to address Bengaluru s shortage of beds and decided to initiate legal action against errant hospitals here. The revenue minister said that all hospitals within the Bengaluru Civic Body limits including those with 20-30 beds capacity and over 100 beds, must be inspected and seize 50 per cent of these beds must be seized immediately.

A Covid DETERrent

A nodal officer or ward secretary will be appointed who will invite all members and officials concerned from all departments. A ward-level ‘war room’ will be set up as a command and control centre in the ward office or another suitable venue within the ward.

I request volunteers, NGOs, resident welfare associations (RWAs) and the public to join hands with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in curbing the virus spread, said Limbavali at the first virtual meeting of the committees on ward decentralised triage and emergency response here.

Updated: Share Article AAA A day after the government’s announcement of the initiative, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has formed Ward Decentralised Triage and Emergency Response (DETER) Committees with the aim of managing the pandemic at the local level. Each of the 198 wards in the city will have a control room and triaging centre to address the needs of residents. Officials in each ward will work with residents’ welfare association, organisations, students, and volunteers to set up a ward control room, triage centre, and a micro COVID Care Centre. The Department of Health and Medical Education will appoint the staff needed for the triaging centre, which will be operational 24/7.
