KENDRAPADA: An ASHA worker in Kendrapada district succumbed to Covid on Friday night even though she had taken both doses of Covishield vaccine.
Saraswati Mallick (35), an ASHA worker at Bhuipur village, was admitted to a Covid hospital at Chhata on June 26. She was put on a ventilator after her oxygen level went down and she died on Friday night.
The ASHA worker is survived by her husband and a nine-year-old son. She is believed to have contracted the virus during the door-to-door screening. She had to be hospitalised after she began experiencing breathing problems and developed cough and fever.
