A drug bust of over 50 grams of suspected fentanyl has been made in Port Elgin by Saugeen Shores Police.
Police say on June 11 around 8:40 p.m. at an address in Port Elgin, an off-duty officer saw a man known to be wanted by another police service.
On duty officers attended and found the man in the passenger seat of a vehicle with a female driver.
The man was immediately placed under arrest and a search resulted in the discovery of the drugs, leading officers to place the female under arrest as well.
Saugeen Shores Police will be having a two-week safety campaign focusing on intersections and crosswalks.
Starting on Friday, officers will be looking for vehicles and bicycles who do not come to complete stops at stops signs, running red lights, or speeding up to ‘beat’ the red light.
Those who get caught can face a $180 fine.
Police will also be looking for motorists who fail to clear an intersection, which is an offence under the Highway Traffic Act.
In a news release, they say their traffic safety initiatives are heavily influenced from information that is gathered from calls for service and feedback that they receive on their various social media platforms.
