London Spirit have confirmed the signing of a trio of overseas players ahead of the launch of The Hundred at this summer.
Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir will line up for the Lord’s-based side as well as Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi and South Africa’s Chloe Tryon, both all-rounders.
Nabi has already featured for a Lord’s-based outfit, having spent two seasons as part of the MCC Young Cricketers programme in 2006 and 2007. He made his MCC debut against the Netherlands prior to his time with the YCs.
Tryon will line up alongside a host of domestic talent with Aylish Cranstone, Amara Carr, Danielle Gibson and former England international Susie Rowe all staying at London Spirit. England captain Heather Knight and the West Indies’ Deandra Dottin are among the names already confirmed.
South Africa’s Proteas Women will return to action for the first time since they lost to Australia in the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Hilton Moreeng’s team haven’t played a single game of cricket since their loss to the hosts and eventual winners of the World Cup. That was at the beginning of March 2020.
Now they finally have a chance to return to the pitch as they go against Pakistan in a series that will consist of three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and the same number of T20 internationals.
All games will be played at an empty Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban, starting on Wednesday, 20 January.
