Your Email Address Share Updated: 3:45 PM MDT Aug 4, 2021 New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation have announced the signings of Yoely Tafoya and Miles Merritt to its Academy roster.Tafoya is a midfielder from Sandia High School and was the top goal-scorer for the Matadors as a freshman. The 18-year-old has played club soccer with Rio Rapids and Zia Youth Soccer League.“Yoely has shown a dedication to learning and developing his game,” said New Mexico United Academy head coach, Paul Leese. “He possesses great close control which allows him to be dangerous in attacking areas, and he can also create opportunities for his teammates.”Merritt is a midfielder from Sandia Prep and won a State Championship with the Sundevils. Ceremony recognizes those who overcame obstacles to go on to attend a four-year university
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Graduation season kicked off in Yuma Wednesday night with a celebration of some of the Desert Southwest s best and brightest college students.
Arizona Western College (AWC) held a La Cosecha event to recognize the achievements of students who will go on to finish their educations at a four-year university. The ceremony did more than commemorate their academic achievements in front of their classmates and loved ones, it also commended them for overcoming a variety of obstacles.

New Mexico United will make it an even 20 – as in 20 consecutive matches outside its home state – Saturday night in El Paso.
Will 20 prove to be a lucky number?
United (0-1), which has a long-awaited home match looming next week, first hopes to bring some momentum into its return to Isotopes Park. It won’t come easily against rival El Paso Locomotive FC, and NMU coach Troy Lesesne knows it.
