Route 202 NJ road rage incident with rifles leads to three arrests

MyCentralJersey.com READINGTON – Three men are facing charges after allegedly brandishing an assault weapon during a road rage incident Sunday afternoon on Route 202. Robert Figueroa, 19, of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, Axel Rafael Colon Merly, 18, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Miguel Angel Otero Journet, 19, of Bear, Delaware, have been charged with second-degree unlawful possession of an assault firearm in Somerset County, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office announced. In Hunterdon County, the trio is facing charges of second-degree possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, third-degree terroristic threats and fourth-degree possession of a high-capacity magazine, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said. The three men are lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Hillsborough NJ man charged after Somerset Lofts Hotel shooting

MyCentralJersey.com SOMERVILLE – A Hillsborough man will remain in the Somerset County Jail after he was charged with attempted murder in a shooting at a Franklin hotel on New Year s Day. Nahshawn Thomas, 20, is also facing a weapons charge in connection with the incident at the Somerset Lofts Hotel on Cedar Grove Lane. Superior Court Judge Anthony Picheca ruled Wednesday that Thomas will be detained in the county jail until the charges are resolved. According to Somerset County Assistant Prosecutor Amanda Frankel, Thomas and the unidentified victim, a New Brunswick man who is a college football player, had been involved in an argument inside the hotel and had agreed to settle the dispute in the hotel s courtyard.

Robert Figueroa, 19 of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, Axel Rafael Colon Merly, 18 of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Miguel Angel Otero Journet, 19 of Bear, Delaware were all charged, announced Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson, Chief of County Detectives John Fodor and Readington Township Chief of Police Joseph Greco. On Sunday, Feb. 28 at around 4 p.m. police were notified about a car driving north into Branchburg that was involved in a road rage incident on Route 202 in Readington Township where a weapon was allegedly pointed at another driver, said Robertson.
