A firearms officer called to the scene of the Fishmongers Hall terror attack recalled his astonishment that suspect Usman Khan had not died, despite being shot at multiple times.
The officer, known only at Khan s inquest by the cipher AZ99 to protect his identity, was one of six armed police to fire 20 shots at Khan during two periods of gunfire, shortly after the suspect stabbed and killed two Cambridge University graduates.
The first exchange comprised two quick shots which felled Khan, having earlier been pinned to the ground by passers by after telling them he had a bomb on him.

An armed policeman who shot dead the Fishmongers Hall terrorist after he killed two and screamed Allahu Akbar in his face told an inquest today he thought we were all going to die after seeing what he thought was a bomb belt.
The officer, who can only be known as WS5 to protect his identity, recalled how he came face to face with homegrown jihadi Usman Khan as bystanders pinned the armed killer to the ground on London Bridge.
It was then that the officer saw an improvised explosive device (IED) wrapped around Khan s waist, and feared the worst.

A solicitor who watched the aftermath of the Fishmongers Hall terror attack told an inquest today how the incident looked like a pub fight before Usman Khan was shot dead by police.
Ian Waring observed events from his office window on London Bridge as 28-year-old convicted terrorist Khan was pinned to the ground by bystanders, having killed two Cambridge graduates at a prisoner education event nearby.
Mr Waring said he began looking out of his office window to see the commotion below, at around 2pm on November 29 2019, and saw what he compared to a bar brawl.
As the attacker was restrained, he warned that the police will kill him if he moves much more in a text message to his wife.
