CVCC Split a Pair of Contests at NJCAA Division 2 Championships Aasia McNeil (3), led the Red Hawks in the win over North Platte with 16 kills. photo courtesy of Cody Dalton/Catawba Valley Community College Athletics CVCC Split a Pair of Contests at NJCAA Division 2 Championships April 14, 2021 The sixth-seeded Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team split its first two matches at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DII National Championship on Tuesday afternoon at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Red Hawks (21-3) won their opening match against No. 11 seed North Platte (Neb.) before falling to third-seeded Iowa Central in the tournament quarterfinals.

Greensburg native honored

Mar 9, 2021 Greensburg native and GCHS Class of 1977 graduate Dave Hellmich, Ph.D., was recently presented the Sauk Valley Citizen of the Year for 2020 and was named the Sauk Valley Chamber Champion 2020. Photo provided DIXON, ILLINOIS Dave Hellmich, Ph.D., a 1977 graduate of Greensburg Community High School and the son of Richard and Phyllis Hellmich of Greensburg, was recently honored twice in the Sauk Valley Telegraph, the local news source for Dr. Hellmichs town of residence. As the Sauk Valley Community College President, Hellmich was named the 2020 Citizen of the Year for promoting engagement and his continued service to the community.
